LHB breaktime

Confession, I started this blog as a class assignment.  (I went back to school)  I have to get 30 posts in by the end of the month.  I think I have enough "projects" to get that quota in, the issue is the time line.  We work all day on the weekends then I post on breaks and at night right before bed.  Right now we're taking a much needed break.  Then we start pouring the concrete for the front sidewalk.  Yeah, you read correctly, the lake house had no front door sidewalk.  Just crushed pink gravel.  Enough pebblecrete driveway for five normal houses.

There is a HUGE four+ car wide and three+ car deep drive at the top, a driveway around the back to another parking area that can easily park 10+ cars. Then I guess he (We call him "crazy ass" pardon my language I have other words I'd like to call him most days.) ran out of money and NO sidewalk.  So this weekend is pouring a sidewalk. There was a huge pile of leftover house brick, so I am going to use that in the sidewalk.  I have told Gary that it is not going to be any harder than just concrete.  (He is getting tired.)  I may not have been telling the truth.  I'm not saying.  ;-)

My four legged babies. Here are Sadie (pit mix looking at you) the foster, Moxy a standard rat terrier.

They have been running like crazy people all day.  They need a break too.  (the big one is just a foster, that I have had way too long)  The boy below has rolled in some "fresh hell" and stinks like nobody's business, so he can't come up.  But doesn't stop him from asking.

"I'm Rocky and I am your favorite.  Come on mom let me up."  Rocky is a Teddy Roosevelt terrier. Honestly after starting my work with the local shelters I would have not purchased dogs and gone to the shelter.  My bad.  Last year we saved over 21 shelter babies.  I usually have puppies.  We try and get mommas and pups out ASAP so the pups don't get sick.  Plus a dog raised in a shelter enviroment is not the same as a pup from a home enviroment.  We do alot of "kill" list dogs as well.  Which is what Sadie was.  She looks to Pit for anyone to take home.  Now she is home trained, leash trained, food submissive, she has just never been to an adoption day.  They are on weekends and we are at the lake.  Honestly I need to find her a "Lake" furever home.  She is a water dog..  I need to get a smiling face photo.  She has the Pit crazy scary smile.. I love it, but will admit it is alot of teeth and mouth.  Her 10lb terrier sister bosses her around like nobody's business.  She is a sweetheart.

Every weekend we arrive and every weekend we discover that no little "worker fairies" have finished anything for us. Sucks too.

I know that I have been talking about the sidewalk but I want to post that project all at one time.  So here is the last project that I told the man would take no "extra" time.

We laid the master bath floor tile on point.  It takes maybe three or four extra squares of tile.  Biggest issue is possible breakage during cuts.  Sorry again, pre-blog days so no hardy board photos.  But we laid the backer board first, then the tile.  I did not use leveler.  This is a lake house and honestly that stuff is expensive.  I also used Thompson Weather proofing instead of water as my stain blocker.  The "sealer" additive is very expensive.  When using thompson it will take the grout 2x's longer to dry.  Yes, I know it says exterior use only, but we were leaving for the drying time, so I was not worried about fumes.

I need to take a new photo the room has the base shoe, and all the trim has been painted, it is just primed in these photos.

This is a warm neutral tile.  $.53, yep at Floor Decor in Houston.  It was closeout.  I have 10 extra pieces.   Funny how something as simple as turning the tile on point will make it look more expensive.  Again think outside the box.
