I picked up this tin sign for $6 bucks. It is one of those new signs made to look old. It is a bit on the small side I was going to mount it to a stained piece of 1x6. Then we decided to turn a very old desk into a coffee table. (all the drawers are falling apart.) When I was tearing apart the desk, I kept everything(surprise surprise) the side panels, drawer fronts, backs & sides . When I saw the drawer side panel I knew it would be perfect for my sign.
Just a broken drawer panel. I flipped the grove to the back side. All I did was clean it. No sanding or staining. I wanted this to look as rustic as I could get it.
I saved the screws from when I took the mirror apart. They were tiny and all rusted out. Matched perfectly.
I just drilled a whole in each corner for rope.
Drawer was so old it crumbled at the corner. No worries the sign doesn't weigh anything so the rope will fit just fine. The knot will keep it in place.
I hung it above the door to the hallway going down to the basement game room, we'll see it every time we leave the kitchen. I love how it turned out.
The garage door is just primer. I am going to paint that black this weekend. I am soooooo sick of painting trim and doors. I have to take breaks and do something cute.
Happy Decorating.
