Lake house bliss -lamps

First things first, the thrift store is your friend!  Don't be afraid to hunt them out, you never know what you will find in the local thrift store.

White glass is all the craze right now, and  if you haven't priced white glass lamps, sit down before you flip the tag over.  New lamps, even cheap lamps were firmly out of my lake budget.  SO I hit the local thrift store.  I found the green lamps for 6.99 each or 10.00 for the pair.  But today is my lucky day, 40% off.  So I got both lamps for 6.00.  Yay me!

Honestly if I did this again I would have primed them first.  It took four good coats of paint to get the coverage I wanted.  Yes that was the entire can for four lamps.

I used a white lacquer $3.67 home depot.
These brown lamps were 5.99 also 40 % off so I got them for $3.60 each no pair discount.  They had already been painted, poorly I might add.  None of the lamps had shades, but lets be honest shades are usually not a 2nd hand item that you can use.

I taped them, cleaned them really good with spray goopoff, bagged the cords and painted.

They look great.  Now to find the perfect shades.  I'll post that later.  I am proud of myself.  Four lamps for under $17 with the paint.  That is 4.25 a lamp.  I know the shades are going to cost the most.

Happy Thrifting.
